MAMIDAKIS WEARABLE COSTUME PROJECT 2026

Project Title: "Silver Emergences: Goddesses of Sea and Cold"

Concise Artist Statement

Six wearable sculptures reimagine the powerful female deities of Minoan Crete — Rhea, Snake Goddess, Britomartis, Ariadne, Eileithyia, and Dove Goddess — through fluid scuba fabric, grounded camping mattress layers, and shimmering thermal emergency blankets. These materials evoke the sea's embrace, earthly shelter, and fragile yet defiant protection against cold and exile, mirroring contemporary migration and resilience.

Designed as both wall-mounted installations and performative garments, the pieces invite viewers to wear, move, and reconfigure modular elements, echoing Lygia Clark's relational objects while integrating Arduino-triggered LEDs, sounds, and haptic feedback for sensory activation.

A ceremonial performance at twilight awakens the goddesses one by one: the artist dons each garment in a slow ritual, accompanied by a hybrid soundscape of Cretan lyra, handpan, crystal bowls, and ambient sea/field recordings. Audience participation builds — touching, embracing, pulling threads — transforming observers into co-creators of a shared rite of empowerment and protection.

QR codes embedded in the fabrics unlock an AR/VR extension (Unity-based), allowing global users to "wear" digital avatars of the goddesses and engage in virtual Minoan rituals.

Rooted in Crete's matriarchal heritage, "Silver Emergences" bridges ancient myth with today's ecological and human fragility, creating a living, participatory dialogue between past and present.

Ready to bring these goddesses to life on Cretan soil.

Overkill Festival at Sickhouse

THE HORDE: GOBLIN MODE was Produced by Sickhouse and Hosted by The Overkill Festival

2023: The Outburst of the Digital Swamp in Enschede, NL, on 16-18 November 2023.

The Horde: Goblin Mode is a LARP experience that fuses environmental sensibilities with immersive storytelling and strategical gameplay where every choice matters.
The game will embrace the entire space of the festival, inviting visitors, artists, and players to act together. A variety of artworks featured by the festival will be in direct dialogue with the Horde, affecting its atmosphere and mechanics.
Created by co curator Kostis Stafylakis and artist Theo Triantafyllidis.

I had the privilege of working at the Overkill Festival, produced by Sickhouse and its team in the Netherlands, where I contributed as a sculpture & costume designer in the Larp department, specifically for the Horde Goblin Mode.

In the hallowed halls of perception's realm, where shadows dance and whispers linger,
the saga unfolded—a tapestry woven with threads of intrigue and the echoes of ancient lore.
Amidst the gathering of disparate souls, four factions emerged, each a mirror reflecting the
complexities of existence: the Boho Elves, guardians of verdant secrets; the Carbon Knights,
architects of technological dreams; the Swamp Goons, stewards of primordial sludge; and the
Chaos Goblins, agents of playful chaos.
In the crucible of debate, they clashed like tempests in the night, their words a symphony of
discordant truths. Yet amidst the chaos, a semblance of order emerged—a fragile alliance forged in
the crucible of necessity.
Behold the meat-prints, a grotesque tapestry of flesh and bone, marking the passage of time in
crimson hues—a testament to the fragility of life and the relentless march of entropy.
Gloria, the reincarnated plant, whispered secrets of forgotten epochs, her tendrils reaching out to
embrace the shadows of the past and the promise of the future.
The proto-hordian skull artifact, a relic of bygone ages, stirred whispers of destiny and doom
—a harbinger of revelations yet untold.
Pascale's interface, a conduit to the realm of possibilities, hummed with the echoes of a thousand
futures—a silent witness to the machinations of fate.
Beneath the earth, the black sludge of mysterious origin bubbled and seethed
—a dark omen of things to come, a reminder of the fragility of existence.
And then, Pascale ascended, her digital form transcending the bounds of mortal comprehension
—a beacon of hope in a world veiled in shadow.
Amidst the chaos, the Boho Elves embraced the healing embrace of the vegetable soup bath, a
ritual of renewal and rebirth—a sanctuary in a world adrift.
In the annals of history, the LARP shall be remembered—a testament to the indomitable spirit
of the human soul and the mysteries that lie beyond the veil of perception.

ENGAGED SCENOGRAPHY
"Engaged Scenography" is a project focusing on scenography in the performing arts sector. It aims to establish a platform of exchange, experimentation, creation, and networking between professionals active in the expanded field of scenography.

https://www.goethe.de/ins/gr/el/kul/kue/esc.html

"Engaged Scenography" offers an artistic laboratory in Athens exploring recent approaches to scenography. Local and international artists from different disciplines enter an exchange about contemporary practice and theory of scenography. With ecology and identity issues in focus, the project includes workshops, meetings, and field research for professionals, as well as a program of talks and performances that engage the broader public and provoke conversations and reflections on the path to a new world."

I participated in a group performance " Urban Longing " , from the workshop of Yorgos Sapountzis artist  (@yorgossapountzis) , for " Engaged Scenography " project.
